Join Our Community Cultural Coffeehouses For a Look at Growing Up As An Immigrant in Charlotte
UNC Charlotte and Queens University of Charlotte invite you to explore what it is like to live as a member of the Muslim and the Latino/Dreamer Immigrant communities in Charlotte at two Community Cultural Coffeehouses.
Who: Our students from Muslim Immigrant and Latino/Dreamer Immigrant (undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children by their parents) Communities
What: A forum for the students and community to express the challenges, achievements, and dreams of living in today’s Charlotte.
Time: 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Date: Thursday, Jan. 19: “Dreamers…Undocumented Youth Raised in the US,” and Thursday, Feb. 9: “Being Muslim in America.”
Where: Third Space at Caldwell Presbyterian Church, 1609 E. 5th St., Charlotte, NC 28204. Complimentary parking is available at the church. Additional parking is available at the corner of Park and East 5th Street.
How: The event is open to the public without charge, but registration is required. Register
Other: The presentations will include a Q&A and reflection. Live music and light snacks will be provided.
The Community Cultural Coffeehouses are presented by UNC Charlotte’s Center for the Study of the New South and Center for Professional and Applied and Ethics and by Queens University of Charlotte’s Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice.
